ISDN30 (DASS 2) conforms to BT’s own standard (see I.421 for Euro version). ISDN30 is the equivalent of up to 30 exchange lines (Channels) and is available from only 8 channels upwards. It is delivered to the customer's premises and connected to an iSPBX (such as BT's Meridian) or for data applications to PC or multiplexor such as the BT Jtec.
ISDN30 (DASS 2) is provided normally over fibre cable but can be provided over transverse screen, microwave or copper pairs. Each system is a 2Mbit/s digital connection from the BT exchange presented as a G703 BNC connector. Conversion from DASS 2 to ISDN30e is also available as a chargable option
ISDN30e is an enhancement of the ISDN30(I.421) service. It is provided with the latest network software, which provides customers with access to Supplementary services such as Call Forwarding of both Voice and Data calls and will also provide new services in the future such as Customer Controlled Call Forwarding. ISDN30e is provided over fibre, tranverse screen or copper wiring. Each system is a 2Mbit/s digital connection from the exchange presented as an RJ45 connector and uses the Q931 signalling protocol, which meets European Telecom Standards Institute (ETSI) specifications. Enhancement to the ISDN30e service is free of charge for ISDN30(I.421) customers. For ISDN30(DASS) customers, there is a charge for upgrading to ISDN30e.
